Middle School

A Full Day!

A Middle School Day is always full and exciting. Classes begin at 8:45 a.m. and are 50 minutes long. Morning classes are broken up by a half-hour meeting period—a time for Assemblies, student-led Committee Meetings and recess.

After period three (12:10 p.m.), the Middle School sits down to a family style lunch served in Lawson Hall. Teachers and student leaders support the early education students in table manners. Student leaders provide announcements at the end of lunch and dismiss our students by house. At 3:10 p.m., after Period Five, students return to their homeform classrooms for guided planning. Homework expectations are clarified from daily tracking sheets and students prioritize the evening’s work.

At 3:30 p.m. students are dismissed to a wide choice of varsity sports, recreational sports clubs and over twenty co-curricular options (see below for a list of this term’s activities). A late study is provided, allowing students to tackle most of their homework before going home.
