April 20, 2016 - COMMUNITY UPDATE
As we work on in our second year of implementing Towards 20/20, we are confident that the plan addresses elements of both planning and innovation for enhanced programs and services. We are immensely proud of our continued success. We are also conscious that our achievements and growth depend on our ability to avoid complacency, take responsible risks, and provide value-added opportunities for students within a creative and dynamic environment.

August 31, 2015 - COMMUNITY UPDATE
Faculty and staff joined to celebrate the culmination of a full year’s progress in all 8 Directions of Towards 2020 in June 2015. It was a great way to finish the year feeling confident and highly enthused about the work everyone accomplished. The images and links in this report showcase samples of the strategies in action and provide a sense of their scope and scale. We now move on to year 2 of the plan with a revised committee structure and mandates to carry us forward. In this report you will learn, as well, about the new leadership structure of the College, its purpose, role descriptions and the people who have taken on the responsibility.

MARCH 30, 2015 - COMMUNITY UPDATE
In March 2015, HSC shared an update with the community on Strategic Planning at HSC. We were midway through year one of our new plan Towards 20/20 and were excited about our progress to that point. The link below will take you to the online publication of this first progress report. It includes an overview of the process, directions, strategies and activities underway within eight committees.

Overview of the Process
This is an exciting time in HSC’s development. With the completion of the ‘Transformation HSC’ project, we have added 134,000 square feet to the College’s campus facilities with the Michael G. DeGroote Centre for Excellence, which consists of two key elements: the Michael G. DeGroote Senior School and a College-wide Athletic Complex and Community Centre. Our new buildings transform our campus, and the way in which we deliver excellence in education. Our renewed strategic plan positions us to build on our strengths and deliver programs that prepare our graduates to thrive in a fast-changing world.

The Board of Governors has responsibility for strategic planning and ultimately approved our new strategic plan. The process to date includes three phases of work:

Phase 1:  Strategic Assessment

During this first phase we conducted an environmental scan of external trends, reviewed our progress in recent years, assessed internal trends, and further engaged members of our community in a dialogue about our future. A key input to this first phase was the results of the Parent Survey administered in May 2013.
We invited all members of our community to provide their views on our future. We held a Community Forum on November 16, 2013 and encouraged community members to submit their views online at strategy@hsc.on.ca.

Phase 2:  Strategic Direction

During the second phase, we updated our strategic directions to provide guidance for the development of the College over the next five years. The draft plan was then shared with the HSC community for feedback in May, 2014.

Phase 3:  Plan Completion and Implementation

During this final phase, the College’s leaders developed strategies and tactics to implement the directions outlined in the Plan. Implementation is now underway. Ongoing monitoring and reporting to our community will be a key element of the process. Regular updates about this process will be provided to our community through e-broadcasts and updates to the Strategy page on the HSC website.
