FAQs

Why make a legacy gift?

Legacy giving enables you to leave something truly meaningful for future generations of HSC students and the HSC community to remember you by. Your gift will have a lasting impact on our students, helping them to reach their full potential.  Your gift can be tailored to your personal and financial circumstances.
By working together with HSC to establish a legacy gift, you can leave a lasting reminder of your commitment to improving educational opportunities for future generations of HSC students. Legacy gifts provide a wonderful way of utilizing your assets to realize your philanthropic goals.  It can also eliminate significant taxes owed from your estate.

What is a bequest?

A bequest is a gift made to HSC through your Will, and is the most common type of legacy gift.  It can be a specified amount (specific bequest), a percentage of the residue of your estate (residual bequest) or contingent upon other beneficiaries surviving (contingent bequest). Planned today, bequests are not realized by HSC until you have passed on.  A bequest, large or small, will ensure that your legacy lives on by positively impacting future generations of HSC students.
