Alumni Association Leadership Award Application

HSC provides an Alumni Association Leadership Award Program for students entering Grade 9. Through a competitive process, successful candidates may earn one of two $10,000 awards that will be applied towards tuition.

To be eligible to receive an Alumni Association Leadership Award, the following is required to be completed and submitted by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2018:
  • Complete the Alumni Association Leadership Award Application form below. Please ensure the following attachments are e-mailed to admissions@hsc.on.ca by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2018
    • A copy of the candidate’s final June 2018 report card
    • A typed personal statement, limited to 1000 words, that explains the candidate’s leadership roles in community service, co-curricular activities, the arts, athletics and academics
  • Complete the scholarship examination on Saturday, December 1, 2018
  • For candidates who are new to HSC, an admissions application must be on file by Friday, November 23, 2018. To be eligible to receive an Alumni Association Leadership Award, the candidate must be in receipt of an offer of admissions

Top candidates will be invited to complete an "interview and presentation" phase with the Leadership Scholarship Selection Committee.

Top candidates will;

  1. Be prepared to answer one interview question (unprepared) selected by the committee
  2. Select a presentation topic from the annual list (shared below) and present to the committee. Aids will be welcome (hand outs, power point, prezzie, video).
  3. Be invited directly onto the HSC Ambassador Team for the next Academic School Year.

  1. You are the Head of an innovative high school. What academic and/or co-curricular activities or programs would you provide to ensure you were developing the leaders of tomorrow.
  2. You have an opportunity to start a not-for-profit organization, how would you inspire your donors (the Leadership Scholarship Committee) to support your philanthropic goals.
  3. You are organizing a conference for young leaders, what does your agenda look like and why?
