Food Services

Between 11:30 a.m. and 1:20 p.m. the HSC kitchen staff serves over 1,200 students and staff. Due to this large number, it is not possible for individuals (staff or students) to receive specially prepared lunches, with the exception of students with manageable food allergies which are identified in advance through the admission process in cooperation with the individual schools.

A family style main meal is served at each table.  Additionally, alternative choices, vegetarian meal option, salads, daily soups and cereal are available at accessible stations within the dining hall and at the servery.

The daily menu is nutritionally-balanced in accordance with Canada’s food guide.  The weekly menu is planned and posted on-line providing a variety of main meals on a rotational schedule.

Healthy Choices, Healthy Kids: TOWARDS 20/20

Over the next five years (2015-2020), as outlined in HSC’s Strategic Plan—Towards 20/20—the College aims to reinforce our long term commitment to student nutrition with a focus in three areas—a whole food approach, shortened ingredient lists, and improved supplier relationships. HSC students are already benefiting from changes and will further benefit by those inspired by our new strategic plan. Many other improvements will roll-out over the coming years.
